The National Comedy Center will open during the annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, August 1-5 in Jamestown with Amy Schumer, Lily Tomlin, Saturday Night Live original season alumni, including Dan Aykroyd, and more than 50 festival events. Tickets will go on pre-sale to Members on April 27th, and on sale to the public May 4th.

The new 37,000 square foot, $50 million facility tells the story of comedy from its origins through the present, with more than 50 immersive, interactive exhibits.

The donation was formally announced during a tribute attended by Larry David, Dr. Demento, Cheryl Hines, Laraine Newman, Paul Provenza, Howard Storm, David Steinberg, Fred Willard, and Alan Zweibel, hosted by Lewis Black and presented by the National Comedy Center on Tuesday, January 30th at the Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California.

The National Comedy Center has been awarded another $834,000 by New York State and Governor Andrew Cuomo. The additional funding follows awards of $2.025 million in 2015 and $1.5 million in 2014, bringing the total amount awarded by New York State to approximately $4.3 million.

The National Comedy Center has acquired the archives of George Carlin. The acquisition was announced last night by the comedian’s daughter, Kelly Carlin, at a private event in New York hosted by the Comedy Center. The contents of the Carlin archive contain material saved by the comedian over his 50-plus-year career, and will be utilized in the Center’s forthcoming museum experience—scheduled to open in Jamestown, New York in 2017.

Regis Philbin hosts Letterman panel in celebration of National Comedy Center groundbreaking
To celebrate the groundbreaking of the National Comedy Center, Regis Philbin will moderate a panel of producers, writers and crew from David Letterman’s Late Show and Late Night. “David Letterman – Behind The Scenes Of Late Night’s Longest Running Broadcaster” will take place on Thursday, July 30th at the Willow Bay Theater in Jamestown, NY as part of the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. This will be the first time since David Letterman’s retirement that the group will discuss how they helped craft Letterman’s shows for the last 33 years.
