- To celebrate the groundbreaking of the National Comedy Center, Regis Philbin hosted a panel of producers, writers and crew from David Letterman’s Late Show and Late Night as part of the National Comedy Center Groundbreaking Weekend & Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.
- “I feel that, in a lot of ways, my dad was kind of a bridge between the generations in comedy,” said Violet Stiel, daughter of Harold Ramis, in a recent interview with The Post-Journal. “He grew up watching black-and-white films with people like the Marx Brothers, and was at the forefront of this new style of comedy that we now see people like Judd Apatow making.”

WHAT: Groundbreaking for the National Comedy Center – The National Comedy Center, in Jamestown, NY, is a new national attraction that will celebrate comedy: the craft and its greatest contributors.
The Groundbreaking Celebration took place from Thursday, July 30 – August 1, 2015
WHY: The National Comedy Center in Jamestown, NY will be the home of the first world-class visitor experience entirely dedicated to comedy; both the craft and its legendary contributors. The non-profit is being designed by world-renowned creative firms: Jack Rouse Associates, and interactive specialist Local Projects (9/11 Memorial Museum).
Already established as a focus for contemporary comedy, Jamestown has hosted comedians Jay Leno, Joan Rivers, Ray Romano, Lewis Black, Ellen Degeneres, Bill Engvall, Bob Newhart, Martin Short, Paula Poundstone, Billy Gardell, Kathleen Madigan, & more. The Groundbreaking took place on August 1, 2015.
The National Comedy Center (NCC) project in Jamestown, NY was recently awarded $1.5 million by New York State Empire State Development and Governor Andrew Cuomo, making it a partner of the I Love New York campaign.
